Dear Ones,
Graduation Day at ABU, oh happy day!  To say that we have never experienced quite a ceremony before is an understatement!  Besides its length (over three hours), it was a real African celebration.

Acting Vice Chancellor of ABU - Tim Hoke

There were 21 graduates from 4 countries in Africa (Uganda, Malawi, Congo, and Kenya).  Particularly memorable was the special song written and performed by the 1st year students, the singing of The Old Rugged Cross with verses sung in English and Lugandan, and Pastor Gerald's passionate preaching from Colossians 1.

You could see the national pride erupt when all the students present from a given country exploded in applause as their countrymen received their diplomas.   Particularly memorable was the group from the Congo that rose to their feet waving small flags while two students ran a huge flag around the room.  We are told that this was the most "spontaneous" graduation they have had.

Please pray for the students as they leave this place, that to many of them, is like a paradise on earth, as they return to their various countries, towns and villages. Pray that their understanding of the "Preeminence of Christ" (the graduation theme) would only deepen and play out in their lives.

Thankful to be serving with you in Uganda,
Jerry & Marg
